a photo spam of calligraphy improvement

where everything i do is made, basically. {yes, it really is this messy all the god damn time}

so these were done over the course of around three months straight of self calligraphy practice after I bought the Mitchell Round Hand Pens {SQUARE CUT} for my birthday.
i think i've mentioned this before but -holy shit- was calligraphy so damn difficult to get the hang of- NOT TO MENTION BECOME DECENT AT.
i don't know why i'd just figured that once i get my nibs the magic would leak straight down on the paper as with the ink but god bloody gracious me that was everything but the case.
i guess i should of known better and not have wrecked a few nibs trying to convince myself that i'm already adept and i'm just 'holding my pen wrong'. mind! i was holding my pen wrong. i was also doing everything else extremely, extremely wrong. i won't go into much detail since i'm still really not past the novice period of calligraphy but trust me- if you're going to start calligraphy;
KNOW that you will be completely and utterly damed stripped of all knowledge of how to write and go all the way back to kindergarden square one.
A. on how to even hold your pen!
so do get to the basics {i did with the aid of many youtube videos}, practice, practice, practice and don't expect to be oh-so amazing after a month or whatever.
people spend years perfecting calligraphy- scratch that, a single FONT, so don't worry if you're rather scratchy on the edges 'cuz you'll smoothen up a'plenty.

anyways i've recently bought new nibs which are the Gillot drawing pen nibs which will hopefully enlighten me on the road to Spencerian/Copperplate font {which was the reason why i started calligraphy in the first place. little did i know that i bought the wrong nibs for it...}. it really, really is a pain in the ass to see myself be so, so bad at something i want to perfect but you know. baby steps. baby steps. hopefully i'll get the hang of it by summer or sorts {just a personal goal, really}.

anywho. i'll sign off here,
